He Cares

In life we have problems. As we find solutions to one problem, others come up. Is there an ultimate solution to all our problems outside of death?

Today’s Scripture

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

What’s your care? What things do you care about? Your children? Your marriage? Is it your health, or your finances? These are the ‘big’ things we tend to always mention. What are your ‘micro’ cares? ‘What will I put on for work tomorrow?’ ‘What should I eat today?’ Which 5 things should I do today out of the 100 on my list?

Now when people are going through real trials such as a terminal disease, persecution, famine, physical and emotional abuse, physical and mental torture, or violence of any kind, how are they to accept this biblical statement, ‘he careth for you?’ How does a person accept that through the pain, or hard trial, God is caring for them?

In all fairness, I don’t know if I have the answer to that question.

We often say God can give the peace that passes all understanding. He can give ‘peace to the storm.’ But does He always give it? What’s the difference between peace and relief? Sometimes is it worth asking for relief? Or should our approach be to just, ‘cast?’

Problems arise. Solutions may or may not come. As simple or trite as it may sound, we can and should cast our care. Not on others, but on the One who cares. For I believe He does care for you and for me.

A Prayer for Today

‘Father, our faith looks up to you, the lamb of Calvary. Savior we need you. Hear us while we pray. Take all our guilt away, O let us from this day be wholly yours. We stretch our hands to you because often no other help we can find. If you withdraw yourself from us, where shall we go? While life’s dark maze we tread, and griefs around us spread, be our Guide. Bid darkness turn to day, wipe all our sorrow’s tears away. Nor let us ever stray from you aside.’*

Father I pray for all who read and embrace this prayer. We give you our desires. You do not force yourself on any of us. We are not robots. But Lord, let there be no doubt that You care for each of us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
