A Devotional Thought
‘One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.’ Psalm 27:4 KJV
A few years ago I sat for the CPA exam. I passed three parts and failed the fourth part by one point! Failing the exam by one point seemed harder to accept than failing by two. To be so close to achieving your goal but yet so far can be heart wrenching especially when missing your goal means you have to start all over again.
If you are going to go for something, whatever it is—building a house, starting a business or furthering your education, leave no stone unturned. Give it your best shot.
At the same time, recognize that life is not a sprint. It’s a journey in which you have to pace yourself. Along the way you must refuel, reevaluate, and prioritize your goals. To prevent burnout, plan downtime. When it’s time to work, work hard. When it’s time to relax, get outdoors, or become a proverbial couch potato. Find something meaningful to take your mind off the stress of the day.
Ultimately, don’t fall short of that one most important thing: to see yourself in God’s kingdom. It’s not a point you want to miss.
A Prayer for Today
Lord, thank you for life. Thank you for giving it abundantly. Help us to fulfill our purpose and our destiny as we do things with all our might and soul, and in Your strength. Amen.
